Co-op Beet

Hello!

For those who will be shopping in store with us this week, our main store hours will be 9am – 7pm Monday through Saturday, and 10am – 6pm on Sunday. Co-op Mini will be open as well, Thursday to Saturday from 12:30 – 4:30pm. We are continuing to adjust hours one week at a time as we are currently limited due to a reduction in staff. We will be sure to keep you updated with any changes as they arise and hope to expand hours as hiring and staffing increase.

On that note, we’re hiring! If you or someone you know is looking for a meaningful way to spend the remainder of the season as part of a dynamic, community oriented, active team, with potential for longer term employment, apply to work with us today. Applications are available in store or online.

Looking for other ways to participate with the Co-op? Consider becoming a Hands-On-Owner. By lending a hand to keep the store running smoothly you’ll feel stronger in your role as a Co-op owner, build our community’s resiliency, and earn up to 20% off your purchases each month. Visit the Hands-On-Owner blog post to learn more and apply.

Thanks for being part of the Co-op!

Hands-On-Owner Spotlight: Tiffany Loney

Tiffany has been contributing to the Co-op as a Hands-On-Owner for the last four years, coming in primarily on delivery days to help unload freight and stock our shelves.
In her words, “As times are shifting, I appreciate having a direct connection to food sourcing and the essential needs of our community. I’m aligned with the type of business that I’d like to see grow as we head into the future. Cooperative business models benefit everyone!”
Outside of the Co-op, Tiffany stays busy teaching dance, gardening, working with the Orcas Center, homeschooling and raising her two children.

Thank you, Tiffany!

We’re looking to grow our team in order to continue supplying food to our community through the multiple channels we now provide. Orcas Food Co-op is now open for in-store shopping at the main store and Co-op Mini, as well as providing the critical service of Curbside Pick-up and Home Delivery. We need more help in all departments to provide these services effectively during the busy summer months.

Orcas Senior Center engages the community to provide services, advocacy, and support needed so that people live and age well on Orcas Island. OSC will use the contributions from the Community Hero Program to help fund the “wheels” portion of the Meals on Wheels program. In 2019, Meals on Wheels delivered 2,900 meals to seniors and disabled Orcas islanders.
